Bali is an Indonesian island known for its forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs. It is a paradise that feels like fantasy. The combination of friendly, hospitable people, a magnificently visual culture infused with spirituality and spectacular beaches have made Bali one of the best tourist attraction.
The Island is a huge devotee towards Hindu religion and culture. I even noticed a peculiar art piece which covered the tomb like ceiling of every house. It definitely looked like the construction we have in Hindu temples. Every aspect of Balinese life is suffused with religion. The primary deity is Sanghyang Widi Wasa, the “all-in-one” god, he is depicted by an empty throne wrapped in the distinctive black-and-white chessboard pattern and protected by a ceremonial tedung umbrella. I sometimes wonder that we have a bunch of people out there giving lectures on what life really is, what it’s purpose and true meaning are, and surprisingly we blindly follow on what others say it to be. But, the fact is as everything in this universe is relative, so is life for each one of us. For some, life means “not being dead”, for some it’s an opportunity to do and achieve something, while some can only fight and struggle for their survival, and the remaining ones are those who are living happily for themselves (Eat, work, sleep, enjoy). However, majority of the people in these categories are still never satisfied. And we often say, even I do sometimes, “Oh, If I just had that one thing, that would be all, I would be so happy and I won’t ask for anything else from life.” But, yes we tend to repeat this line time and again. :p Continue reading “Life is ?”
